I've enjoyed anime, manga, and video games since as far as my memory goes. They still remind me of the sweet times of ignorant bliss. I wanted to learn Japanese in high school but the class wasn't offered. I was maddeningly bored one day and on a whim decided to learn the Japanese language. I found that it was rather interesting, especially given my vague familiarity with Chinese. Japanese seems to be the only language that I actually have an interest in learning. Having a Chinese heritage isn't enough to motivate me to learn the language, and yet I could read giant blocks of text on Japanese grammar structure.
After visiting New York City, I knew I wanted to experience life in a big city. I hope I will be able to study abroad in Tokyo as it would be the perfect way to experience the fast-paced lifestyle of a worldly city. Whether I end up going to Tokyo or Nagoya, I want to learn enough Japanese to experience true Japanese culture in Japan.
